About Me

I’m Marko Ilić: a web performance engineer and team leader obsessed with making things faster, better, and more humane.

I profile JavaScript before my tea goes cold. I’ve spent years building high-performing teams and watching engineers grow from curious juniors to confident leads.

I dig into the deep stuff. Browser engines fascinate me. When something doesn’t make sense, I’ll chase it down to the source code level. Chromium’s internals are basically my weekend reading.

But here’s what matters: I believe that those who understand, teach. And I live by the idea that you can have everything you want in life if you help others get what they want. The best code I’ve written is clean and fast. The best decisions I’ve made put people first.

performent is where I share what I’ve learned at the intersection of:

You’ll find experiments, checklists, hard-won lessons, and the occasional deep dive into engine internals.

It’s a mash-up of performance and management because the best outcomes live at their intersection. A fast site built by a burned-out team isn’t actually fast. And a happy team without intentional engineering just ships technical debt. Both matter.
